One carrier who ran through to the stadium torch carrying such a flame missed the remainder of the event because his burn injuries needed attending to. This wasn't even accidental, because he dropped the torch and burnt himself or something -- it was just the flame was dangerous altogether. It's become much, much safer in recent years.
